District Police Leh arrested 9 person; 78,000 stake money seized

District Police Leh arrested 9 gamblers and seized the stake money, play cards, and other gaming articles from the gaming place on January 16.

Police party headed by DySP Hqr Leh and SHO Leh raided a gambling house near Choglamsar and arrested 4 gamblers on the spot identified as Tsering Phuntsog S/o Chemet Tashi R/o TR Camp No.2; Sangyal Tendar S/o Chongat Tsering R/o TR Camp No 2; Tashi Angdus S/o Dachos R/o TR Camp No 01; Sonam Tashi S/o Sonam Angdus R/o Kharnakling Choglamsar. Stake money of ₹34200/ along with play cards and other gaming articles were seized from the gaming site.

FIR No. 08/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Leh. The investigation is under process.

Similarly, information was also received that some persons are gambling in the house of Sonam Angchuk at Skara. The police team immediately rush to the location and raided the house and arrested 5 persons namely Raju Bamzan S/o Kali Bamzan; Loktay Tamang S/o Norboo Tamang; Ramesh Tamang S/o Nima Dorjey Tamang; Nar Bhadur S/o Lal Bhadur; Sonam Tamang S/o CB Tamang. All the arrested accused are from Nepal and are residing in Skara Leh. They were caught red-handedly while gambling
Inside rented accommodation. Play cards and ₹43,820 stake money were seized.

FIR No. 09/2023 under the relevant section of the law was also registered at Police Station Leh and an investigation started.

District Police Leh stated that persons found indulging in criminal activities/gambling shall be dealt with strictly as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighborhood with the district police Leh for timely action.
