District administration Nubra launches district-wide cleanliness campaign
The District Administration Nubra on May 7 launched a district-wide sanitation and cleanliness campaign under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, IAS.
The initiative was organised with the objective of promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness, and sustainable tourism across the district.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from Jigmet Raftan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, the SHO Nubra, officers and officials of various departments, students, village representatives, local associations, and members of the public from different parts of the district.
As part of the campaign, sanitation drives and cleanliness activities were simultaneously conducted across all villages, covering major tourist destinations, market areas, public spaces, government offices, educational institutions, roadsides, and village surroundings. The initiative aimed not only to improve sanitation standards but also to create awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and eco-friendly environment.
A large number of stakeholders actively participated in the programme, including officers and officials stationed at Diskit, village lambardars, students and staff of various schools, members of the Camel Association Nubra, Hotel and Guest House Association Nubra, and local residents.
Addressing the gathering at Hunder, Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal, IAS, emphasized that Nubra Valley, being one of the major tourist destinations of Ladakh, must strive to set an example as a clean, pristine, and environmentally conscious region.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders, particularly youth and local communities, to adopt cleanliness as a continuous public movement and ensure proper waste disposal and sanitation practices across the district.
He also highlighted the commitment of the District Administration Nubra towards promoting sustainable tourism, environmental preservation, and cleanliness throughout the district.
