District Administration, Kargil distributes food items to migrant labourers

In the wake of the situation that emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent Corona curfew, District Administration, Kargil distributed free rice, dal, cooking oil, milk powder, soap among more than 100 labourers and daily wage workers at Baroo on May 28.

Later, the officers led by ALC Kargil distributed free food items among labourers and daily wagers in Kargil town and adjoining areas including Baroo, Baroo Tsog, Titichumik and other locations in and around Kargil town.

Food items were distributed among the labourers as per the scale of rice 5 kgs, dal 1.50 kgs, cooking oil 1 litre, Nutri nuggets 1.50 kgs, sugar 0.50 kgs, milk powder 0.50 kgs, 3 masks and 1 soap per person besides sanitary pads for female labourers. Furthermore, free medicines are also being provided to the needy labourers on the production of doctor’s prescription.

Meanwhile, the free food items are also being distributed in Sankoo, Drass, Shakar Chiktan and Zanskar Sub Divisions through the respective Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs).

More than 4500 migrant labourers will be provided free food items across the district as per the list provided by the officer's committee constituted at the district headquarter and SDMs from the respective subdivisions.
