Disaster management and School safety training held at Moravian Mission and Ladakh Public School
Under the aegis of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Leh, in collaboration with the 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a Disaster Management and School Safety Training Programme was conducted at Moravian Mission School and Ladakh Public School, Leh, on October 6.
The training was conducted at Moravian Mission School in the morning, followed by a separate session at Ladakh Public School in the afternoon. Students and staff of both schools actively participated in the sessions.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Inspector Puran Singh Negi, followed by lecture-cum-demonstrations by the NDRF team. The training covered basic first aid, management of soft-tissue injuries, improvised stretcher-making, the use of emergency floating rescue devices, and techniques for containing LPG cylinder leakage and fire using wet blankets and buckets.
The sessions were attended by Deputy Commandant Mohd Shafiq, Inspector Puran Singh Negi, SI Narsing Yadav, Principal of Moravian Mission School Rachel Dendol, and Principal of Ladakh Public School Sonam Wangdu.
The district-wide training campaign, covering educational institutions and government departments, will continue until October 13, 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen disaster preparedness, awareness and safety measures across Leh district.
