Director School Education reviews academic and administrative progress in Kargil

Director, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, Tsering Paldan, JKAS, chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall, Baroo, Kargil, on October 5 to assess the progress of various departmental activities, academic performance and administrative matters in the district.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officer, Kargil; all Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs); Principals of Government and private Higher Secondary Schools; and Heads of Government and private High Schools.

The meeting reviewed key issues, including the physical progress of works under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI, student enrolment, dropout verification, zero-enrolment and single-staff schools, UDISE+ data updation, academic progress, syllabus completion and preparedness for the forthcoming pre-board and final examinations.

Particular emphasis was laid on the verification of student enrolment and dropout data. The Director directed all ZEOs and Heads of Institutions to thoroughly cross-check the data at their respective levels and ensure its accurate and final updation to reflect the actual status of students.

The Director instructed the Chief Education Officer, Kargil, to undertake a comprehensive review of zero-enrolment and single-staff schools and assess the prevailing situation and requirements of such institutions.

The meeting also reviewed the status of SQAAF and residential remedial programmes for Classes 10 and 12, with emphasis on strengthening academic preparedness and improving student learning outcomes.

The Director further directed all ZEOs to make frequent visits to their respective zones and regularly review the academic performance of schools, including teaching-learning processes, syllabus progress and student outcomes. He stressed the importance of effective field-level monitoring and timely intervention wherever gaps are identified.

Heads of Institutions were directed to maintain updated, factual and institution-wise records and ensure effective implementation of all departmental programmes and academic interventions.

The Director emphasised that regular monitoring, accurate data management, institutional accountability and coordinated efforts at all levels are essential to strengthening the quality of school education and improving academic outcomes across Kargil district.
