DG NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats visits Ladakh, reviews NCC training and infrastructure

Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, visited 1 Ladakh Battalion NCC, Leh, during the ongoing Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) being conducted from May 19 to 28 for 350 NCC cadets at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, Gupuk, Leh.

During his visit, the DG NCC called on Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, and the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 14 Corps, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, SC, SM, VSM, to discuss matters related to youth development, expansion of NCC activities across UT Ladakh, and strengthening NCC infrastructure in the region.

The DG NCC also visited the ongoing CATC organised by 1 Ladakh Battalion NCC, Leh, and interacted with NCC cadets drawn from various educational institutions across Leh-Ladakh. While interacting with the cadets, he lauded their enthusiasm, discipline, and commitment towards nation-building.

He appreciated the training being imparted by the NCC team in Leh and motivated the cadets to actively participate in various NCC camps of national importance and contribute meaningfully towards nation-building. He also felicitated outstanding Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and NCC cadets for their exemplary performance and achievements in various NCC activities.

Lt Gen Vats further visited the under-construction Ladakh NCC Training Academy at Phyang, Leh, where he reviewed the progress of ongoing construction works. He emphasized the timely completion of the project, which is expected to significantly enhance training facilities and opportunities for NCC cadets in the Ladakh region.

The visit highlighted the NCC’s continued commitment towards empowering youth in remote and border areas and fostering leadership, discipline, and patriotism among the younger generation by grooming them as future leaders.

Highlighting the emerging security dynamics, rapid technological advancements, and the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, the DG NCC stated that the Ladakh NCC Training Academy at Phyang would emerge as a centre of excellence where NCC training would be dynamic, future-ready, and mission-oriented.
