Deputy Chairman, Hill Council, Leh takes stock of containment zone situations

Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Tsering Angchuk took stock of the situation of containment areas of Leh district with the concerned Magistrate/Nodal Officers of Containment zones headed by ADC Leh, Sonam Chosjor on December 7.

Executive Councillors, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Stanzin Chosphel, and Ghulam Mehdi; CMO, Leh, Dr. Motup Dorjey; Magistrate/Nodal Officers, Mohd Rahula, Mushtaq Ahmad, and Abdul Wahid were present.

Deputy Chairman sought feedback from a concerned magistrate about the genuine issues of people living in containment zones. The concerned officers were asked to make every possible effort to mitigate the problems of people living in containment zones. 

He directed CMO, Leh to spread more awareness about the COVID-19, Do's and Dont’s, SOPs through radio and TV. 

ADC Leh informed that the villages like Sankar, Yurtung, Skampari, Skurbuchan, and Phyang Monastery have been brought under containment zones and the areas which have been de-contained so far are Shenam, Tukcha, and SECMOL Campus. 

He said that the objective of bringing these hotspot areas under containment zones, imposing Section 144, night curfew, and the ongoing random sampling in COVID-19 hotspot areas is to stop transmission of COVID-19 cases in the district. For surveillance and monitoring of containment zones and to ensure timely supply of essential supplies, Magistrate/Nodal Officers have been deployed for all the containment areas who are providing day to day essential supplies to the people in containment zones.  

Dr. Motup said that the ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and ANMs have been deployed to perform house to house surveillance in containment zones daily. He also briefed about the preparedness of the Medical Department in treating COVID patients and to contain the spread of infection in the district.
