DC Sham reviews progress of Jal Seva Ankalan, inspects NH-1 near Sumdho
Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Kunzes Angmo, (JKAS) reviewed the status of Jal Seva Ankalan, a digital community-led assessment initiative followed by inspection NH1, near Sumdho Junction on May 7.
The AEE, PHE, and the concerned JE briefed the chair about Jal Seva Ankalan through a PowerPoint presentation and informed that most of the activities under the scheme including the constitution of the District Technical Unit (DTU), are completed. It was further informed that the District Action Plan will be finalized after approval in the forthcoming District level Meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the details of works being executed by the department under CAPEX and other schemes.
Later in the afternoon, the Deputy Commissioner, along with the SDM Khaltse, Executive Engineer PWD and concern Engineers and OIC 81 RCC, visited the Sumdho Bridge near Wanla Junction to assess the condition of the Wanla Nallah alongside NH-1, which remains highly vulnerable during flash floods and the rainy season.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed the OIC 81 RCC to take necessary measures for the clearance of the nallah and carry on the improvement of the culvert near Wanla Junction Gate on urgent basis.
The OIC informed that the department has already projected a plan for the improvement of the nallah to the concerned authority. He further stated that a survey for strengthening the alternate old Zig-Zag road will be carried out in the coming days.
