DC Kargil reviews LPG distribution, pushes for transparent and timely supply
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, chaired a meeting with concerned officers and LPG distributors in his office chamber on March 25 to review and streamline the distribution of LPG across the district.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the existing LPG distribution mechanism, availability of supplies, and issues faced by consumers, particularly in remote and far-flung areas. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to ensure timely and hassle-free supply of LPG to all consumers.
He directed that e-KYC registration be implemented across all five subdivisions of the district to enhance transparency and accountability in LPG distribution. He emphasised that LPG cylinders should be supplied strictly through an OTP-based verification and booking system to prevent hoarding and ensure fair distribution.
The Deputy Commissioner further instructed concerned departments to organise special camps, particularly for commercial consumers, to complete the registration process within a stipulated timeframe.
Highlighting challenges in remote areas, he directed departments to identify and designate locations with proper network connectivity, enabling consumers to book LPG cylinders through OTP-based systems. This, he noted, would ensure a transparent, hassle-free, and record-based supply mechanism even in such regions.
He also directed all concerned agencies to strengthen coordination, maintain adequate stock, and ensure timely supply to every corner of the district.
Emphasising accountability, he called for close monitoring of LPG agencies and prompt redressal of public grievances.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Director, FCS&CA Kargil; representatives of various LPG agencies, including Kargil Indane (IOCL), Right Way Gas Agency (HPCL) Zanskar, OCL Zanskar, Tiger Hill Drass, Durgam Cittar Vitrak (HPCL), and Indane Gramin Vitrak agencies of Taisuru and Chiktan; as well as the President of the Merchant Association Kargil.
