DC Kargil reviews COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign plans

Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary discussed various measures for smooth implementation of COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, 2020 on December 16.

Various necessary measures to be taken during the preparatory phase and implementation phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, 2020 in the district were discussed.

Required measures like monitoring of the progress of registration of beneficiaries, conduct of timely training, key activities such as micro-planning, communication planning, cold chain, and vaccine logistics planning, identification of vaccination session sites for the 1st phase of COVID-19 vaccination, identification of vaccinators across Government and private sectors to minimize disruption of routine immunization services, mapping of human resources across departments for vaccination teams and related aspects were discussed and decisions were taken accordingly.

Chief Medical Officer and District Social Welfare Officer, Kargil were asked to make use of the services of the Doctors, Paramedical Staff, Ashas, Anganwadi workers rationally and judiciously with particular focus on areas where there is a shortage of manpower. 

He also directed the officers concerned to conduct the training of the human resource at the earliest.

Underlining the need for proper verification of beneficiaries to be vaccinated during the initial phase as well as the subsequent phases, the DM directed the concerned officers to engage all concerned field functionaries including the BLOs in the process. 

He also instructed them to use all required Government infrastructure including school buildings as and when required to carry out the vaccination process.

Chief Medical Officer and District Information Officer, Kargil were asked to prepare awareness videos in local vernacular languages showcasing the different steps of vaccination. Education, Social Welfare and Health Department were also asked to conduct awareness programmes at different locations including schools and to submit the area wise and school wise awareness plan for children and people of other age groups to the concerned Block Medical Officers (BMOs), adding that the awareness sessions should be completed within specific timelines. 

Meanwhile, to ensure smooth implementation of COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign at the block levels, Baseer ul Haq Chaudhary directed for constitution of Block Level Task Force Committees headed by the respective Tehsildars with the BMOs, BDOs, CDPOs, ZEOs and the SHOs/Chowki Officers of the concerned blocks as members.

CMO Kargil informed that the Adverse Effect Following Committee (AEFI) has already been constituted in the district while the details of 8 Cold Chain Points (CCPs), healthcare workers’ data, vaccination session sites details, and details of Vaccinators and Supervisory List have been uploaded on the COWIN Portal. 

He further informed that the cold chain assessment has also been made while the uploading of details in respect of Frontline Workers and Priority Groups and IEC and Communication micro-planning is under process besides the training of District Trainers will commence in 2 days.
