Gearing up for the celebration of Republic Day, Haji Gulzar Hussain, DC Kargil convened a meeting with concerned officers to discuss the arrangement on January 4 in Kargil.

The meeting was attended by Tsering Gylapo, SSP Kargil, officers of MC, Education, Cultural Academy, several engineering wings like Mechanical, PHE, R&B and other concerned departments.

Haji Gulzar Hussain, DC issued necessary directions with regard to the arrangements including snow clearance at the venue, security, transport, sanitation, power supply, medicare facilities etc. 

He also directed the concerned officers to ensure snow clearance of the venue well before the start of rehearsals for the Republic Day parade and to keep men and machinery ready in case of snowfall during the Republic daytime.

While exhorting upon the officers to work in close coordination, DC stressed upon the need to ensure better security arrangements, parking, drinking water facilities, uninterrupted water supply, and proper seating arrangements.

It was decided at the meeting that flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium, Kargil followed by March past. 

The contingents of ITBP, CRPF, J&K Police, NCC besides government and private schools will participate in the march past. Cultural programmes will also be presented by the artists of Information Department, Cultural Academy as well as school children.

Meanwhile, he also directed SDMs and Tehsildars of the various Sub Divisions, Tehsils and Niabats in the district to carry timely arrangements for the celebration of Republic Day in their respective jurisdictions.
