COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Leh; Gyal P Wangyal calls meeting

With the increase in number of COVID 19 cases in Leh district, Hill Council, Leh reviewed the present situation on June 16.

The meeting was convened by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC and Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman, Hill Council, Leh at Council Secretariat. Director, Health Services, Dr. Phunchok Angchuk; CMO, Leh, Dr. Motup Dorjey, and ADC Leh, Dr. Zahida Bano were present.

The meeting took serious note of the increasing trend of COVID -19 positive cases in Leh which is very high as per the population ratio of Ladakh amid limited resources to handle the pandemic. They discussed measures to stop further spread of COVID 19 cases in Leh district.

Dr. Motup Dorjey informed that at present there are 110 active cases in Leh district out of which 10 positive patients are admitted in COVID hospital while 100 positive cases are in home isolation. The health condition of all the patients is stable.

Dr. Zahida Bano said that Sindhu Bhawan and Indus Hotel Choglamar with 100-bed capacity have been turned into COVID Care Centre (CCC) to accommodate positive patients. 

Stopping the inter-district movement of vehicles and passengers (Kargil and Leh), increasing the number of COVID Care Centre in the district, and provision of hotel facilitates to doctors were also discussed.
