Cooperative Department Leh revives Cooperative Consumer retail outlet in Stok village

Cooperative department through Bami Dunya Cooperative Store Leh revived a Cooperative Consumer retail outlet in Stok village. The store was inaugurated by Executive Councillor, Cooperatives, LAHDC, Leh, Stanzin Chosphel in the presence of Deputy Registrar Cooperative Society, Leh, Dr Mohd Abass on May 29.

Nambardar Stok, Rinchen Tundup; Assistant Registrar Cooperative, Leh, Skarma Tashi; Supervisor Cooperative, Tsering Angchok, and other PRI members and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

EC Stanzin Chosphel said that the Cooperative department through different types of Cooperative Societies has been providing various services to the public be it consumer goods of good quality at a fair price, marketing of local vegetables, fruits, pashmina, and other produce, and stressed upon the public to take full benefit of the services.

Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Leh, Dr Mohd Abass highlighted the efforts of the department for the revival and strengthening of the village level Primary Cooperative societies to streamline and improve services in the form of consumer goods, distribution of fertilizers/organic manures or other cooperative-related developmental activities and their implementation through village level cooperative societies.

He added that the retail outlets will have a rate list of consumer goods displayed in the shop indicating the selling price of each item below MRP. He further said that many of the common services (Common Service Centres) are being proposed to be provided through Cooperative Societies as per recent instructions from the Ministry of Cooperation, Govt of India which will diversify the service avenue of the Cooperative Societies.

The villagers expressed gratitude to the Executive Councillor and Cooperative Department for reviving the outlet and assured to run it for the benefit of the public with full devotion. 
Another outlet near the Stok trekking point was also inaugurated on May 16.
