An order regarding the complete ban on spitting in public places was issued by Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chairman District Disaster Management Authority/ District Magistrate on April 24.

The order reads, “That in exercise of power conferred under section-34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 as well as in continuation to a previous order; it is hereby ordered for- complete ban on spitting in public places”.

In case of violation, fines prescribed in exercise of power under Section-51B of Disaster Management Act, 2005 will be:- non-wearing of face cover in public places and work places will invite a penalty of ₹ 500 and spitting in public places would also invite a penalty of ₹ 500.

All SDMs/Executive Magistrates and Police Personnel shall ensure the compliance of the order.
