Chief Secretary reviews arrangements for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s upcoming visit

Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, chaired a high-level preparatory meeting at the UT Secretariat’s Conference Hall in Leh on July 3 to review arrangements for the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The meeting primarily focused on ensuring comprehensive security and logistical preparedness for the visit. Dr. Kotwal stressed the importance of seamless coordination among all concerned departments to ensure a smooth, secure, and dignified event.

Key discussion points included the provision of Z+ security cover, the deployment of a dedicated medical aid team at the venue, and well-planned crowd management strategies. The Chief Secretary issued specific instructions for finalising the movement plan and the minute-to-minute itinerary of His Holiness, highlighting the need for precision and inter-agency collaboration.

Dr. Kotwal also directed the SSP Security to finalise vehicle arrangements for His Holiness, with particular attention to the security convoy and transportation between designated locations.

He urged all departments to maintain the highest standards of protocol and safety, ensuring that the visit of His Holiness is conducted with utmost respect and efficiency.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar, Administrative Secretary of Tourism and Culture Vikram Singh Malik, Administrative Secretary of PWD/PHE Micheal D’Souza, Deputy Commissioner Leh Romil Singh Donk, SSP Leh Shruti Arora, SSP Traffic, SSP Security, Director of Health Services, Director of Urban Local Bodies, and other officials from the respective departments.
