Chief Electoral Officer chairs inter-state border meeting

The Chief Electoral Officer of Ladakh, Yetindra Maralkar, jointly chaired a meeting with Chief Electoral Officer J&K, P K Pole IAS, on inter-state border management of enforcement agencies for the UT of Ladakh, UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, on March 5.

The meeting, discussed the preparedness of enforcement agencies in the border states concerning the seizures of liquor, drugs/narcotics, precious metals, and freebies/other items expected during the general elections to Lok Sabha 2024. The CEO, Ladakh, urged the enforcement agencies of UT Ladakh to be vigilant in seizing items and to ensure smooth coordination with their counterparts in the neighboring UT of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

The establishment of checkpoints with CCTV facilities by various enforcement agencies along the border with Himachal Pradesh and UT of Jammu and Kashmir was also discussed. Instructions were issued to ensure the timely establishment of these checkpoints.

The meeting was attended by the District Election Officers of Leh and Kargil, SSP Leh and Kargil, SP Traffic Ladakh, a representative from ADGP Ladakh, and the Excise and Taxation Department, Ladakh.
