CEC visits Kharu Block; assured fulfilling various demands of public

During the two days visit by CEC LAHDC Leh Rigzin Spalbar to Kharu Block on 20 May, he said that a major water supply project is about to begin that would cover the drinking water demand of all the villages of Chemsak.

He was accompanied by Executive Councillor Animal & Sheep Husbandry Gyurmet Dorjey; Executive Councillor Tourism, CA&PD Mohd Shafi Lasu; Councillor Sakti Gyal Phunchok Wangyal; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kharu Ghulam Mehdi; Executive Engineers and head of the various concerned departments, sarpanches, naib-sarpanches, and nambardars.

Councillor Sakti Gyal Phunchok Wangyal; Sarpanch Tagar Rigzin Tsering; Sarpanch Chemray Rigzin Tashi; Naib-Sarpanch Taknak Gelex Gyurmet; Nambardar Sakti Tashi Phuntsog; Nambardar Chemray Skalzang Namgyal and Nambardar Kharu Gonbo presented their demands at their respective places to CEC among which the entire Chemsak belt demanded for shifting of SDM office from present location to PDC guest house building near the Kharu market for easy access to the general public to which CEC assured of looking into the possibilities.

In the morning, CEC had a meeting with the venerable monks of Takthok Monastery and listened to their demands of a parking area near the monastery, an electric transformer for the Gonpa and replacement of old wires, to which CEC gave directions to the concerned officers for early redress. He also instructed the Tourism Department for completion of pending works that was sanctioned by the then Minster for Tourism & Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora.
 
Later at Panchayat Ghar Hamil, Sarpanch Tagar Rigzin Tsering, Naib-Sarpanch Taknak Gelex Gyurmet and Nambardar Tashi Phuntsog on behalf of the villagers demanded for opening of a Tehsil office at Sakti; construction of a medical sub-centre at Taknak which would also cover Taknak-phoo; distribution of Tagar land among the villagers; inclusion of Sakti village in tourism zone; link road to Middle School Tagar etc.

Talking about the funds under MGNREGA, ACD Leh and BDO Leh gave a detailed account about the payment process and developments there under. Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer PHE, Executive Engineer PDD, Animal & Sheep Husbandry officers among others explained in detail about the issues and ongoing works and their future plans in the interest of the general public. Also, Naib-Sarpanch appreciated work of various departments like Soil Conservation and CAPD. 

At Panchayat Ghar Chemday, Councillor Wangyal, Sarpanch Chemray Rigzin Tashi, and Nambardar Chemray Skalzang Namgyal requested for sanctiontioning of medical sub-centre, animal breeding centre and a ration store at Nalla-Peu; black topping of link road from Larak to Peu and widening of road & construction of culvert at Dok Taktak Peu; construction of link road from Gamath to Larak via Keung at Chemday and release funds for construction of mini-stadium (Kharu block) under Panchayat Yuva Kendra aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) at Chemdey-Dho among others. To this, CEC assured of approaching to the higher authorities for PYKKA and assured redress of these issues.

Chemray Gonpa monks headed by Treasurer Ven. Nawang Chospel on the occasion also requested for putting up of repairing of Chemdey Gonpa road and widening of parking place in the district plan to which CEC gave directions for the same. Talking about the water lifting facility already installed at Gonpa, venerable monks requested for connections to ‘Tashaks’ to which CEC gave directions for few central points for easy access to water for the monks. Talking about the incomplete building sanctioned by the then Minster for Tourism & Culture, CEC gave directions to Tourism Department to look into the completion of the requirements.
 
Later at Kharu Councillor Wangyal along with Nambardar Kharu Gonbo demanded for construction of a veterinary hospital; repairing of link road to Kharu; primary health centre at Kharu block; flood protection bund at Sakti nalla from Sakti to Kharu; chain-link fencing for cattle pastureland at Sapchak pond. On behalf of the merchants at Kharu market, President Market Society Kharu T. Angchuk also requested for a 100 KVA transformer for the market and water drainage system at Kharu market.

CEC gave on-spot directions and assured of redress of the issues in phase manner.
On the first day of his two days visit to Kharu Block, CEC visited Sakti, Chemday and Kharu villages and on 22 May, he is scheduled to visit the villages of Igoo, Phuktsey, Shara, Gya, Rumtse, Sasoma, Meeru, Upshi, Tuna and Kulum.
