CEC on 3- day tour of Khaltsi sub- division Visits Aryan Valley, Achinathang and Lehdo villages on first day

Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh to take stock of all developmental works and demand of the people during his three-day visit to Khaltse sub division starting from March 4.

Phuntsog Stanzin, EC Agriculture, district and sub-divisional level offices and engineers headed by District Superintending Engineer PWD, Leh Pardip Sharma and SDM, Khaltse, Tsering Motup were also present.

On the first day, Gyal P Wangyal visited villagers of the Skurbuchan constituency. He said that the people of Ladakh can dream speedy development as there will be no shortage of funds in UT Ladakh.

He informed people about ₹6000 crore budget approved for Ladakh by the union government.

“Ladakh used to get only 2% share of budget during the erstwhile J&K Govt. We use to get only ₹56 crores, now the capex budget of Hill Council Leh for the year 2020-21 is ₹234 crore to carry out developmental activities in Leh district. Hill Council will ensure timely utilization of funds and people must extend their cooperation to executing agencies and village Panchayat”, he added.

Regarding drinking water facilities in villages, he briefed people about PM Modi Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which aims to provide tap water to all household of the nation by 2024. He directed SE PWD, Xen PHE and Engineers to ensure complete door to door survey of every household and urged Sarpanches and villages to support survey team for full coverage of household in their respective villages.        
                
Urging people to enroll their children in govt. schools, CEC Wangyal reiterated that Council will always give top priority to the education sector. He assured that Council will give every possible support and assistance to strengthen govt schools in Leh district.   
                     
Highlighting the issues and demand of villages, Phuntsog Stanzin said that all basic facilities like power, mobile network, bank services and LPG home delivery were immensely improved in Aryan valley and adjacent villages in last four years. Other pending demands of all the villages are under active consideration of Council.

He said that the pending projects and new demands will be taken care of in the 2020-21 Capex Budget priority wise.                        

Talking about upcoming ₹250 crore MODI project in Leh district, he said that in coming days a team of agriculture and allied officers will visit villages of Shaam area first to prepare farmers of MODI project to convert Leh district into organic and sustainable farming region.           
            
People of Aryan valley demanded separate Councillor for Aryan belt, homestay facilities, construction of new irrigation canals and restoration of old ones, bridges improvement of roads, drinking water facilities and many more.
