Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, convened a meeting on May 13 to discuss the recruitment of Physical Education Teachers (PETs) across schools in the district.

The meeting was attended by Administrative Secretary Vikram Singh Malik; Additional Secretary, GAD, Rigzin Spalgon (JKAS); OSD to Sports Secretary, Dr. Stanzin Thakchos; and District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Tsering Tashi. Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, and Director, School Education, Tsering Paldan, participated virtually.

A detailed discussion was held on the shortage of PETs in schools and possible measures to address the issue. The participants also deliberated on the need to amend the existing Recruitment Rules (RRs) for PETs to create a more inclusive and practical recruitment process.
