CEC Kargil visits Thasgam-Thuina constituency

Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhon, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil visited Thasgam-Thuina constituency on  October 25.

Superintendent Engineer, PHE/I&FC, SE, PWD, ACD, Kargil, Subdivision Magistrate, Sankoo, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Director Tourism, Executive Engineer SVD, Sankoo, Executive Engineer, PHE, Executive Engineer, PMGSY beside other officers accompanied the CEC during the tour. 

CEC held a series of interactions and meetings with key stakeholders, including PRI members and villagers of Kamutul, Thuvina, Gontabcha, Brakoo, Humree, Straqburik, Lalung Thasgam and Stiangkung. Further, he said that the aim of the visit was to connect with the local population and understand their needs, aspirations, and concerns.

During the visit, the villagers evaluated the issues in front of CEC such as infrastructure development, roads, healthcare, education, construction of lift irrigation, drinking water scarcity, upgradation of High Schools into Higher Secondary, development of schools into model schools, repairing and maintaining of irrigation canals, promotion of tourism, land compensations and several other issues were discussed in depth.

The CEC assured them to solve their genuine demands in a phased manner.

He highlighted the importance of participatory governance and said, “I am committed to work hand in hand with the people of Kargil to address their most pressing challenges and to harness the region's potential.

He expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far and encouraged all departments to maintain their momentum to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe.

CEC instructed I&FC Department to resolve the issues of irrigation canals in these villages as a priority.  He directed the concerned officials to speed up the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in these villages and instructed for its completion at the earliest. He also directed the Tourism Department to expedite Homestays in villages to boost the economy of the locals. 

Subsequently, he chaired a meeting at Conference Hall, Sankoo, with the elected Councillors of Sankoo and Lankerchey, PRI members, and district officers.

The issues of JJM, lift irrigation, PMGSY road compensation, shortage of doctors at CHC Sankoo, and the urged to outsource plumbers for the convenience of the people were also appraised by the councillors.
