Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, conducted a comprehensive inspection of various infrastructure projects being carried out by multiple departments in Kargil on April 28.

The inspection was attended by key officials, including the Chief Engineer of Project Vijayak, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil (Administrator MC Kargil), Chief Project Engineer, PDC Kargil, Superintending Engineer, PW (R&B) Kargil, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil, Executive Engineers from PHE, R&B, M&RE PDD, and CCD 1st PDC Kargil, as well as the Executive Engineer, I&FC Kargil, Tehsildar Kargil, and the Town Councillor.

At the Motorable Bridge near By-Pass Shilikchey, the CEC engaged in a detailed discussion with the Chief Engineer of Project Vijayak, emphasizing the need for a thorough assessment of the land affected by the project. He directed that the impacted land be duly evaluated for compensation. The visit also addressed various technical and execution-related matters.

At the JAME Kargil Bridge site, the CEC stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure the timely completion of the project. He assured the team that if additional funds were needed, they would be provided from the LAHDC Capex Budget.

Furthermore, the CEC instructed the R&B Department to resolve the issue of the PHE canal alignment, which crosses the road stretch after the bridge, to prevent potential future obstructions.

Earlier in the day, the CEC visited Kabadi Nallah, where local residents raised concerns about stone fall hazards in the area. They requested the construction of a protective bund and the elevation of compound walls to safeguard the community. Acknowledging their concerns, the CEC directed the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil to assess the site and determine whether compensation was necessary for the affected areas.
