CEC, Kargil, discusses land compensation issues of Kargil- Zanskar National Highway

CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon discussed land compensation and other issues of Kargil Zanskar Highway, NH - 301 at the Council Secretariat on November 28.   
                   
NHIDCL gave a detailed presentation about work progress achieved and compensation disbursed among the beneficiaries in various packages from Zone 1 to 8 at Kargil Zanskar National Highway NH 301.
                             
They further informed that compensation for properties including the acquisition of trees, land, houses private properties has been done in various packages and is under the disbursing phase, further in the Zanskar sub-division 90 percent of the compensation money has been disbursed. Meanwhile, in other packages, the disbursing process is undergoing simultaneously.   
            
During the meeting, public representatives raised and discussed various issues with NHIDCL.

CEC directed SDM Sankoo and Tehsildar Sankoo, Taisuru, and Zanskar to pace up the process of land compensation and completion of other related works by March 2024 in order to achieve hassle-free completion of the National Highway within the revised timelines. 

Dr. Jaffer directed GM NHIDCL to personally monitor and supervise the work regularly to redress the issues of the public on the ground at the earliest possibility, also directed to work in close coordination with the local engineers for early completion of the works.

CEC asked DC Kargil and DFO to have a meeting immediately and revise the rates of popular trees so that people can get genuine compensation for their trees.  

Dr. Jaffer directed NHIDCL to avoid unnecessary damage to public property and advised to construct breast walls at required places only. He also directed to repair of necessary khuls which are required for irrigation purposes adding that public assets should not be affected during the next irrigation session. 
                         
Regarding the CSR works of NHIDCL, CEC said after a thorough discussion on the proposals and meeting with DC Kargil, approved proposals will be submitted to NHIDCL for CSR works.
