CEC inaugurates Mini Hydel Plant , Tourist Facilitation Centre in Nubra

A 2x 225 KW Mini Hydel Plant at Chamshen, Tourist Facilitation Centre Building st Panamik, and Agriculture Extension Office at Sumoor were inaugurated by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh on September 9.

The 2 x 225 KW Mini Hydel Plant at Chamshen was funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and executed by LREDA. The Hydel Project which is already catering to the electricity needs of dozens of villages along the Nubra River will cater to the power supply to some villages on the Diskit side also. The budgeted Accommodation building at Charasa constructed by Leh Development Authority and 60 KV Generator Set at Charasa was also inaugurated.

Gyal P Wangyal congratulated the people of Nubra for commissioning of Chamshen Hydel Project which will improve the electricity supply in the region gradually. He said that with the commissioning of other mini hydel projects in the Nubra region, the electricity problem will be solved permanently in the coming years.
 
He said that the 5th LAHDC, Leh despite having the constraint of funds managed to compete Tourist Facilitate Centre building at Panamik and the Budgeted Accommodation building at Charasa under the Leh Development Authority. He said that with the functionality of Nubra Development Authority, tourism-related infrastructural needs of Nubra region will get a major flip in the coming months and years.
 
EC Agriculture, Phuntsog Stanzin said that the function of the Agriculture Extension Office at Sumoor- Nubra will prove instrumental in implementing the Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI) in Nubra region.
 
Dy. Chairman, Tsering Sandup and Councillor Tegar, Rigzin Lundup highlighted major achievements attained in their respective constituencies during the last five years and apprised people about the ongoing major projects under Capex budget and SDP.
 
BDC Panamik, SDM Nurba/ CEO NDA, Sonam Norboo; Project Director LREDA, Dr. Tsewang Thinles; Assistant Director Tourism Leh, Jigmet Namgyal and concerned engineers were present.
