CEC Gyalson reviews pilot projects undertaken by BORDA in Leh Ward No-3 Changspa and Hotel Grand Dragon felicitated for outstanding performance in waste management under Swachh Survekshan

CEC, Hill Council, Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson reviewed the Pilot Projects under BORDA-SA 155 being implemented in Leh town in collaboration with LAHDC, Leh on December 23.

Tashi Gyalson said that though Leh town lacks facilities and systematic planning as per the requirement of a capital city, Leh is exemplary in many respects as compared to other parts of the nation. He lauded the contribution of NGOs in making Leh special with their sincere and dedicated works for decades. 

The meeting was attended by Dy. Chairman Tsering Angchuk; EC, Rural Development Department, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; EC Minority and Forest, Ghulam Medhi, Councillors, members of Municipal Committee Leh, President, LEDeG, Sarla Chhewang, and representatives of NGOs working in different fields in Ladakh including 17000 ft, Women Alliance Leh, Birds Club, PAGIR, NCF, LOTI/THF, LAMO, Ladakh Heart Foundation, SECMOL, LNP, and LEHO.

CEC said that Hill Council, Leh will extend all possible support and help to all the NGOs of Leh which are actively engaged in diverse fields to lead Leh district towards sustainable goals with environment-friendly innovations and methods. 

He said that having vision documents like Vision Document 2025 of 4th LAHDC, Leh, Vision 2030, and Ladakh Vision 2050 are the foundation for Leh district to achieve sustainable goals but the need of the time is to implement the vision documents responsibly. He stressed avoiding overlapping of projects in vision documents by incorporating climate change factors in the vision documents.

He said that now Ladakh after becoming UT, there will be no shortage of funds to implement vision documents. 

Also, he stressed implementing agencies and NGOs to focus their projects in rural areas along with Leh town which will help a lot to check rural migration towards towns in the future.

Appreciating the successful projects of LEDeG in past and existing projects of BORDA SA-155 on water and sanitation in Urban Leh including continuous 24x7 water supply to Gangles village etc, CEC assured to extend all possible support to LEDeG in future collaborations. 

Executive Director, Eshey Tondup highlighted the vision, aim and goals of LEDeG and BORDA followed by a detailed review of pilot projects under BORDA through a powerpoint presentation by Asma Yousuf, Project Manager, BORDA. 

CEC Gyalson felicitated Ward No-3 Changspa for outstanding performance in waste management under Swachh Survekshan and Grand Dragon Hotel, Leh for outstanding performance in waste management.

Tsering Namgyal, Councillor, Lower Leh thanked LEDeG for organizing this daylong meeting providing a common platform for all the NGOs of Leh to highlight their works in different fields. He termed the meeting very informative and inspiring for everyone and highly lauded the outstanding works of NOGs working in Ladakh.
