CEC expresses dismay over absent of district health mission in Leh district, to be set up on Jan 27

Taking serious note of the absence of District Health Mission (DHM) in the Leh district, CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa convened a meeting at Council Secretariat on December 27.

In the meeting Deputy Commissioner, Leh Prasanna Ramaswami G who is the Chairman District Health Society (DHS) and Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) and the senior doctors of SNM Hospital, Leh headed by CMO, Leh Dr. Yangchen Dolma, and Medical Superintendent was present.

Expressing dismay over the non-constitution of DHM in the district so far which has to be chaired by Chairman Zila Parishad, Dr. Dawa said that the MP, MLA’s  and MLC’s are the members of the DHM and is the supreme body in the district under which DHS, RKS etc works as an executing body. He directed DC, Leh for the earliest constitution of DHM of the district. 

He further said that to take SNM Hospital Leh and rural health facilities to next level, LAHDC, Leh is planning to go with a new thinking and ideas in 2017 for which DHM will play a key role. Every health-related planning, issues, and demands must go through DHM.
 For improvement and up gradation of SNM Hospital Leh under tourism sector including the establishment of Tourist ward, CEC Dr. Dawa directed concerned to prepare DPR up to  ₹ 100 crores involving the creation of posts and procurement of latest machines. 

It was decided to constitute DHM on January 27 and directed CMO, Leh to keep transfer policy and other key issues on the top of agenda in the meeting including detail expenditure report of state and national level health programs. 

DC assured to conduct a monthly meeting after the constitution of DHM.
