CEC Dr Jaffer, DC Shrikant Suse inaugurate NRLM training centre at Saliskote

Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon along with Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, inaugurated the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) training centre at Saliskote on February 29.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Ghulam Mohd, Councillor Saliskote, Mohd Sajjad Khan, BPM Rahila Khatoon, SHG members and civil society of Saliskote were present on the occasion.

During the event, CEC Dr. Jaffer expressed satisfaction at the growing empowerment of women in rural areas, which contributes to both their livelihoods and the economy. He commended ACD Kargil for the successful implementation of the NRLM scheme in Kargil, noting that these initiatives will enhance livelihood opportunities and reduce dependence on government jobs.

Dr. Jaffer assured that ways and means would be explored in the subsidy sector to generate employment and livelihood programs. He advised the SHG members and concerned officers to prioritize the quality and current state of the finished product.He also inspected the center and machines, interacted with Lakh Pati Didis and other SHG members, and encouraged them to work diligently to enhance their livelihoods.

DC Kargil expressed happiness over the opening of the livelihood centre. He said more such centres will be established in other blocks of the district. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts by all stakeholders to ensure the success of NRLM in the district.

Councilor Mohd Sajjad Khan expressed gratitude to the concerned department and emphasized the need for continued coordination and logistic support in the future to ensure the success of the center.

ACD Ghulam Mohammad said that the scheme had been highly beneficial for the SHGs in improving their livelihoods. He expressed hope that the establishment of the training centre would further help in the production of quality products.
