CEC Dr Jaffer chairs review meeting on stray dog management

In response to recent stray dog attacks, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon chaired a review meeting regarding stray dog management in Goma Kargil, Baroo, Minji and Poyen areas on March 8.

Executive Councilor, Tourism, Kacho Mohd Feroz, SSP Kargil, Shree Ram R, ADC Kargil, Suhail Ahmed, Councillor Poyen, Kargil Town, and Poyen, District Animal Husbandry Officer, District Wildlife Officer, Executive Officer Municipal Committee besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

Detailed discussions were held on the concerns raised by the Councilors regarding the increasing feral dog attacks in their respective constituencies. CEC Dr Jaffer directed the District Animal Husbandry Officer to identify and start catching wild dogs.

The CEC also promised to raise the incentive for capturing a dog from 200 to 500 per dog untill the end of March this year.

He directed the District Wildlife Officer to use tranquilizers to unconscious the dogs and deport them to the rehabilitation center of the Municipal Committee. The CEC also directed CMO Kargil to keep the team ready in case of any emergency.

CEC Dr Jaffer also directed the Sheep Husbandry Officer to send immediate medicines for the treatment of livestock that were attacked by stray dogs.

He also directed SSP Kargil and ADC Kargil to monitor the situation and directed the Animal Husbandry Officer to furnish the report within a week.He further directed all the concerned departments to work in coordination for the effective implementation of plan at the ground level.
