CEC Dr Jaffer chairs meeting with All Casual Labour Union Kargil

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd  Jaffer Akoon held a meeting with the members of the All Casual Labour Union Kargil on February 28.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarter Nitin Yadav, Secretary of the All Casual Labour Union Kargil, Asgar Ali along with other members of the union.

During the meeting, Asgar Ali forwarded some demands and issues of the causal laborers. In response, CEC Kargil informed the members of the union that the UT level committee is going to submit the report to the LG Ladakh soon.

CEC Jaffer also said that the same report will be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India before the model code of conduct ahead of Lok Sabha election.He also assured that the UT Administration, along with both the Hill Councils, is on the same page regarding the genuine demands of the casual laborers.

He further assured the members of the union that their demands will be taken up with the higher authorities. The CEC mentioned that the LG Ladakh is actively engaged in this matter and his people-friendly approach will facilitate advancing the issue to the Government of India.

EC Dr. Jaffer urged union members not to go on strike, as it may disrupt essential public services, particularly during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

The union members appreciated the positive assurance of CEC Kargil and agreed not to go for a strike. They also thanked the Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Superintendent of Kargil for their cooperation and understanding of their issues.

The union members decided to address their demands through dialogue and discussion and hoped for a positive resolution to their genuine demands.
