CEC & Deputy Chairman visits upper Siachen villages

Implementation and progress of various ongoing developmental projects in the villages of upper Siachen belt were reviewed by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC and Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman on November 24.

People demanded improvement of the telecommunication system, water supply scheme, protection bunds along Siachen river and power facility. 

Gyal P Wangyal assured that all their developmental aspirations would be fulfilled as there will be no funding problem now in UT Ladakh. He said that Hill Council is much cautious in devising projects based on regional needs and assured that all their genuine requirement shall be reflected in the coming action plans.
 
Tsering Sandup extended greetings to the people of the area for opening Siachen for tourism. He said that with this a new avenue of development has opened for the people of upper Siachen belt.

He said that Hill Council will extend support to the people in skill upgradation for handling tourists besides assistance for infrastructure development.
 
At Tongsted, people of Khimi Panchayat Halqa organised a grand function to celebrate the opening of Siachen for tourism and expressed their gratitude to the Hill Council, Leh. Also, they demanded help and assistant from Hill Council for imparting training in capacity building for handling tourists and logistic support for the creation of infrastructure.

Tsering Angchuk, Councilor Diskit; Kunzang Lotus, Councilor Hunder; Sub Divisional level officers and engineers were also present.
