CEC assesses the developmental works of Lower Leh constituency

To take the stock of ongoing developmental activities and to assess the problems of the people, CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa visited Skanos- Gogsum, Upper Skampari, Skampari Saphut Labab, Skampari Shey Mohalla, Skampari, Skampari Yokma, Skampari A & B Nurbooling Skampari, Katmochey, Maney Tselding, Nimoling, Skitsaling and  Diskit-Tsal on 19 November.

At Skyanos Gogsum and Stago Philog, the residents complained about the objection made by Leh Old Town Initiative (LOTI), a Leh based NGO on the project carried under Rajiv Awaz Yojna (RAY) which has suspended the project works. 

CEC said that these are historically important places and ensured to resume the works under RAY soon after considering the genuineness of issue raised by LOTI. 

CEC also instructed concern engineers of PWD to make the new drainage tank functional in a week’s time to address the water logging problem near community land of Stago-Philog.

The residents of Skampari areas and new settlements in Skampari areas demanded for water, power and road facilities. Dr. Dawa informed that Council is already working on a planned draft to undertake the matter of providing basic facilities to new settlements in a systematic manner. 

He added that in this regard he has submitted the need for transformers and electric poles with concern authority in Jammu recently and assured its supply before road closure if weather remains favorable, else by beginning of next working season. 

They also complained about poor broadcast network of DDK, Leh to which CEC assured that matter has been taken up at high level to upgrade the network coverage of DDK, Leh.

At Maney-Tselding, Nimoling, and Old Bus stand, CEC also noted the issue of water flowing on roads becoming major cause of road accidents. He directed concern engineers to dig couple of temporary sock pits along the roads so that flowing water could be absorbed and also directed Municipal Committee Leh to take strict action against residents responsible for it.

Lower Leh Councilor Phunchok Wangdan requested citizens of his constituency to bring the issues and demands directly to him or convey their grievances through their Gobas in the monthly meeting being held on every 15th of the month.

Lower Leh Councilor P Wangdan, Ex-en R&B Dorjey Gyatso, AEEs and representatives of Municipal Committee Leh and engineers, Nominated Councilor Advocate Mohammad Nassir also joined during the visit.
