BRO facilitates free medical camp in Chemdey

Commemorating the Border Road Organisation (BRO) day, free medical and a dental camp was organised by BRO 753 BRTF Project Himank on May 7 in Chemdey. Dorjey Motup, CEC inaugurated the camp.

Appreciating the BRO’s crucial role in connecting borders areas, Dorjey Motup said their work not only ensures nation’s security but has also improved the lifestyle of the people living in border areas. He termed the medical camp as a BRO’s goodwill gesture towards the locals which will further strengthen the bond between the two.

He appealed people to avail benefit from the medical camp and requested to organize such camps in remote areas where basic health facilities are lacking.

Dorjay Motup further assured every possible support and cooperation from the Hill Council to BRO in their projects. 

Dr.Wasim, Medical Officer, Sakti talked about open defecation and water pollution caused by the BRO labourers in and around Sakti. He said the absence of toilet facilities may lead to serious health consequences if timely action is not taken.

He urged BRO to take immediate necessary precautionary measures.

Nitin Sharma, Chief Engineer BRO said the organisation is committed to more free medical camps in rural areas in future.

He assured immediate construction of sufficient numbers of toilets for the BRO labourers at Sakti transit camp. 

He briefed about BRO’s 58 years of service to the nation mainly in road construction. Lauding LAHDC’s all-time constructive approaches of giving a congenial working environment in Ladakh, he said that this has helped in executing result-oriented projects in the region.  

Gyal P Wangyal, EC Health urged the need of close coordination between the BRO and LAHDC to make future projects more productive and beneficial for the development of this region.

Mentioning the up-gradation of Kharu-Tangtse road which is in progress, he requested the BRO for early blacktopping from Kharu to Sakti.

He also requested BRO to create toilet facilities for the labourers of BRO stationed at the transit camp, Sakti.

Tsering Motup, SDM Kharu,  Chhakzot Chemdey Gompa, Doctors, officers and Jawans of BRO were also present.
