Breeder awareness camp held in Lingshed and Photoksar

A one-day breeder camp at Lingshed on August 23 and Photoksar on August 24  was organised by Sheep Husbandry Department, Khaltse.

The breeder camp was held under the guidance of Junior Nutritionist, Dr. Mohd Sadiq; Technical Officer, Dr. Nasreen Fatima, and Block Officer, Khaltse, Sonam Tundup.

Dr. Sadiq gave detailed information regarding the management of livestock rearing and contagious diseases of animals. He discussed the recent outbreak of Foot and Mouth (FMD) disease and guided breeders about the control measures. Further, he inculcated breeders about the economic importance of the livestock sector and measures to be included in management to make this sector sustainable.

Likewise, Dr. Nasreen informed the breeders of Lingshed and Photoksar about the various departmental schemes implemented by Sheep Husbandry to aid breeders in improving livestock production. She stressed the importance of implementing new technology in management and discussed the use of shearing machines distributed under the SDP scheme.

Block Officer, Sonam Tundup shared detailed information about the ongoing departmental scheme and guided them about routine veterinary health care services available. Furthermore, he informed breeders about Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans for meeting capital requirements in management on low-interest rates.

The camp also included interactive sessions where breeders put forth their demands and shared their feedback.

Nambardar, Sarpanch, and breeders of Lingshed and Photoksar villages participated in the event.
