Block-level training program on revamped GPDP held in Kargil

A Block level training program for the Members of the Block Development Council (BDC) of Kargil and Sodh on revamped Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and Block Panchayat Development Plan (BPDP) for FY 2023-24 to achieve localization of sustainable goals was organized at ACD Hall, Baroo, Kargil on 7 January.

The training program was held under the supervision of the District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Kargil, Padma Angmo. Chairperson BDC Kargil, Khadija Banoo; Chairperson BDC. Sodh Zakir Hussain; BDO Kargil, Block Level Officers, Sarpanches, VLWs, CIC Operators, and others also participated.

The program focused exclusively on People’s Plan Campaign-2022 for the preparation of thematic GPDP under Localized Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) mapped into nine themes by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj including Poverty Free and Enhanced Livelihoods Village, Child-friendly Village, Women-friendly Village, Healthy Village, Self Sufficient Infrastructure Village, Socially Secured Village, Water Sufficient Village, Village with Good Governance and Clean and Green Village.

The thematic approach to GPDP and BPDP with a focus on LSDGs would ensure the convergence of resources and augment community participation at the panchayat level in consonance with all stakeholders and line departments. It is also aimed to achieve saturation on all SDGs by 2030.

The DPO provided details about the People's Plan Campaign during the program. She briefed the participants regarding their duties and roles. She said GPDP and BPDP are participatory plans to involve villagers for the betterment and development of the village.

The representatives of the line departments were given awareness about their roles and were informed in detail about their participation in the planning of GPDP and BPDP for the nine themes.

She sensitized participants about the Mission Antyodaya Survey and sought the cooperation of line departments for providing correct data for successfully and effectively carrying out the Revamped Mission Antyodaya Survey 2022.
