Awareness programme held on management of solid waste

To spread the message of Swachata/Management of solid waste, an awareness programme was held on September 17, under the chairmanship of Principal District & Session Judge Leh, R.S Jasrotia which was attended by all Sarpanches of Leh District.

R.S Jasrotia, Chairman DLSA, Leh while speaking on the concept of solid waste management said that the Sarpanchs can play a big role to minimize the menace of solid waste which has become a cause of concern, not only to village/town/cities but at the global level. 

They were made aware of as to how to conserve or harvest the water. The participants were also made aware of the impact and effect of plastic use in their daily life and health. They were asked to spread the message in the village by holding panchayat level awareness programmes to contain the use of single-use plastic and also its dangerous effects on human health.

Spalzes Angmo, Secretary DLSA talked about the protection and enforcement of Tribal Rights Scheme, 2015 of NALSA and legal provisions meant for the welfare/protection of tribal’s and the legal services provided to the welfare of the Tribal people by DLSA.

Zakir Hussain, DPO Leh also talked about the solid waste management of Project Tsangda and requested the participants/Sarpanchs to carry forward the cause of not to use plastic items and to minimize its use in their daily life.

Mohd. Shafi Lassu, President Bar Association, President Bar Association also explained the objectives of legal services authority and the services provided to the downtrodden and people of marginalised society.

Sonam Spalzes extended their thanks to the participants and also requested that local traditional toilets should be used to minimize water pollution and also spoke on the measures for conservation /harvesting of water.
