Awareness for children on the eve of drinking water sanitation week

Continuing with the National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Week, an awareness programme was conducted on March 19 in hall Sadbhavna hostel Boys Higher Secondary School Leh wherein Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh Rakesh Kumar Badyal was the chief guest. 
Rakesh Kumar Badyal advised the students to understand the importance of keeping the toilets and their surroundings clean for their good health in particular and a clean and hygienic sorrounding in general.

District Superintendent Engineer Leh Sita Ram Dogra highlighted about the importance of habit of cleaning nails, washing hands with soap before and after eating food, after using toilet, after blowing nose, coughing or sneezing, after handling animal waste and also advised not to waste water and rain water harvesting.
          
Block Development Officer Leh Angchuk terming that the age-old methods applied by our ancestors as a smart way to keep the water sources clean, urged the students to spread the message of clean drinking water and sanitation.
Earlier, AEE PHE Urgyan Norboo gave a power-point presentation on ‘quality of water and scarcity of water’ and an animated movie on ‘role of individual and Panchyat in water and sanitation’.

Executive Engieer PHE Tashi Tundup, AD Information Leh Rigzin Spalgon, Dr Rinchen Angmo, teachers and students of Boys Higher Secondary School Leh, Girls Higher Secondary School Leh and Government Middle School Housing Colony were present on the occasion.

Later, a rally of students shouting slogans of ‘save water sources’, ‘use water judiciously’ was taken from the spot via SNM Hospital-New Bus Stand-Maneytselding and ended at power house chowk.
