ARTO Kargil conducts vehicle inspections, licence services during Zanskar camp
A two-day camp office organised by the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO), Kargil, concluded successfully in Zanskar on June 9, bringing essential transport-related services directly to the doorstep of residents.
During the camp, the ARTO Kargil team conducted fitness inspections of both commercial and non-commercial vehicles, renewed driving licences, issued permits and vehicle registrations, and carried out driving tests for applicants seeking fresh driving licences. The initiative was aimed at facilitating public access to transport services and reducing the inconvenience faced by residents who otherwise have to travel to Kargil to complete official formalities.
On the sidelines of the camp, ARTO Kargil held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Zanskar, to discuss key transport-related issues in the newly created district and strengthen inter-departmental coordination for better service delivery.
In a significant step towards promoting road safety awareness, ARTO Kargil, in collaboration with Government Degree College Zanskar and Zanskar Police, organised a panel discussion on road safety. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Amjad Abbasi, Principal of Government Degree College Zanskar.
The discussion saw active participation from students and stakeholders, who put forward innovative suggestions and ideas to improve traffic management and enhance road safety in the district.
The programme was graced by Superintendent of Police Zanskar, Rigzin Sangdup, as the Chief Guest, while ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain, attended as the Guest of Honour. SHO Zanskar, Rigzin, also participated actively in the deliberations.
The public widely appreciated the camp for delivering citizen-centric services, improving accessibility to transport-related facilities, and fostering greater awareness about responsible driving and road safety.
