Artists from Ladakh win laurels at virtual National Kala Utsav-2020

Two artists from Ladakh won accolades during the virtual valedictory function-cum-prize distribution ceremony of National Kala Utsav-2020 held online on January 28.

Tsering  Kunsal, a student of Class 11, Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh, secured third place in instrumental music-traditional folk. While, Maqsooma Bano, student of Class 10, Government High School, Kaksar, Kargil bagged second prize in ‘visual art-2D’.

The event ‘National Kala Utsav-2020’ was held from January 11 to 22 at Paras Hall, Government Boys’ Senior Secondary School, Leh.   The UT Ladakh team was headed by Nodal Officer, Kala Utsav, Ladakh, Sonam Yangchan, and Technical Coordinator, Kala Utsav, Ladakh, Tsewang Namgail. The students of both Leh and Kargil districts performed vocal music- traditional folk, instrumental music-traditional folk, dance- folk, visual arts (2D), visual arts (3D), and indigenous toys and games during the event.

Minister of Education, Government of India (GoI), Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’; Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, GoI; Director and Secretary of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT); Joint Secretary Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET); National Convener, Kala Utsav-2020 along with the state coordinators, teachers, and participants of different states and union territories were present during the valedictory function-cum-prize distribution function.
