6th Alternative Skill Based Winter Camp concludes in Kanji

The 6th Alternative Skill Based Winter Camp, organized by Youth Association Kanji concluded on February 15.

The camp started on 1st January 2023 and attracted 83 students hailing from the village itself. The 3 main facilitators of the camp, Ratna Rigzin, Rigzin Dorjey, and Rinchen Dolker were trained for 15 days before the commencement of the camp by Royal Enfield & Snow Leopard Conservancy Fund through a special. Deldan Namgail, the Ice Hockey Coach for the Kanji Kids attended 11 day International Ice Hockey Skill Development Camp organized by Deptt of Youth Services & Sports. Other than school academics, students learned and participated to excel in Leadership Skills, Mind Alertness Activities, Tradition and Culture, Teamwork, Ice Hockey, and more.

The closing of the 46 days winter camp was attended by Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Executive Councilor RDD, LAHDC – Leh as the Chief Guest. Officers of the RDD Department, Nambardar of Kanji Village, and other guests also attended.

Chief Guest Tashi Namgyal Yakzee gave decisions to settle issues and ensured complete others in a fast-track manner. Remapping and redesigning of the Village gathering center, Fund allocation for the Construction of a Solar house for the SHG & Women alliance of Kanji, Rebho tents for domesticated livestock, and future support for the Kanji winter camp were the major highlight that he promised to complete in favor of Kanji village at earliest. 

Tsewang Namgyal, President, YAK highlighted the need for funds for winter camp, the completion of the Ice Hockey Rink, and Musical and Sports equipment for YAK. 

Rigzin Spalgon, Village Representative also spoke on the occasion highlighting major village issues like the completion of pending RDD works, securing of grazing lands, improvement of mobile connectivity, road condition, electricity connection, JJM, facilities in the school, and other issues about the village.
