68 booths, 227 personnel deployed for successful Pulse Polio drive in Sham
The Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme for children aged 0–5 years was successfully conducted across Sham district on June 28.
Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), along with Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse, Dr. Javed Ahmed, formally inaugurated the programme by administering polio drops to a child. They urged parents to ensure that every eligible child receives the vaccine to help maintain a polio-free society.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the dedicated efforts of health workers, supervisors, volunteers, and supporting staff for their active participation and contribution towards the successful implementation of the campaign.
During the drive, 68 immunisation booths were established across the district to cover all eligible children. A total of 227 personnel were deployed for the smooth conduct of the programme, while 12 supervisors monitored the functioning of booths and overall implementation. Additionally, five mobile teams were assigned to reach remote and inaccessible areas to ensure that no child was left uncovered.
ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers from various Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) actively participated in the programme by mobilising parents and creating awareness about the importance of Pulse Polio Immunisation.
Health officials highlighted the significance of Pulse Polio Immunisation in protecting children from the crippling disease and appealed to the public to continue supporting health initiatives aimed at safeguarding children's health.
The programme concluded successfully with active cooperation from health officials, frontline workers, volunteers, and the general public.
