6-days IMPACT programme commences in UT Ladakh

Six days online Integrated Multidisciplinary Professional Advancement Course for Teachers (IMPACT) Training programme for UT level Resource Persons (UTRP) of Ladakh commenced from November 13 at the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Kargil/Leh.

Commissioner/ Secretary, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, A.K. Sahu highlighted the importance of teacher training in the education system to enhance the competencies of teachers for effective teaching in classrooms. He further disclosed that the School Education Department Ladakh is planning to organize several training programmes in the coming months in consultation with the NCERT and other national organizations which will raise the competencies of teachers to address the needs of students in their classroom and will improve their learning outcomes.

UT Ladakh has also initiated the process to connect all the teachers with the DIKSHA platform to get coherence access.

Talking about teacher's role in children's life when they are in school, Director, NCERT, Professor Hrushikesh Senapaty said, “Children follow their teachers more than their parents. Teachers make an impact on the child's present and future life. This power of teacher needs to be understood by each one of us and therefore, the process of teachers' preparation and development needs to be given utmost importance”.

He expressed that six days online phase of this course, the IMPACT package has been developed to provide teachers with the knowledge, understanding, and skills on the generic concerns such as understanding of learners, school-based assessment, pre-school and foundational literacy, and numeracy and teaching-learning in multigrade situations.

Director School Education Department, UT Ladakh, Mohd Mamtaz Ali extended gratitude to the Director NCERT and his whole team for organizing such a high-level online training programme for the teachers of UT Ladakh.

He requested Director NCERT' to conduct more such training from NCERT team to the teachers of UT of Ladakh to revolutionize the education system.
 
Prof. Sridhar Srivastava, Joint Director, NCERT appreciated the NCERT team for conducting the Ladakh IMPACT module in a short time. He stressed to focus on Ladakh Teacher Education training to be carried out well in time.

Keynote was presented by Prof. Ranjana Arora DTE, NCERT by highlighting the importance of IMPACT Training and presented guidelines of IMPACT training highlighting modules of the training programme based on pedagogies and skill development.

The programme was attended by National Level Resource Persons of NCERT.
