52 UoL Kargil students trained in information security under NSQF programme
In a step towards equipping students with critical, high-demand Industry 4.0 skills, 52 students from the Kargil Campus of the University of Ladakh successfully completed a 90-hour National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)-recognised course titled “Foundations of Information Security”, conducted by NIELIT Kargil. The course concluded on April 3.
The students were felicitated with NIELIT backpacks and pen drives by the officiating In-charge Administration, Kargil Campus, Dr. Gh. Ali, who is also the Coordinator of the Department of Chemistry. Others present on the occasion included Mohsin Ali, Coordinator, Department of Zoology; Dr. Qudsia Tabassum, Coordinator, Department of Forensic Science; Dr. Rachit Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & IT; and Anwar Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & IT, along with other faculty members of the Kargil Campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gh. Ali congratulated the students on successfully completing the course. He highlighted the growing demand for such skills in today’s digital era and encouraged students to further strengthen the competencies they had acquired. He also expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Prof. Dr. Saket Kushwaha, for his dynamic leadership in enabling students to access high-value, in-demand courses.
Dr. Ali further thanked Phuntsog Toldan, Director, NIELIT Ladakh, for his proactive role in initiating this beneficial collaboration in the interest of students in the region. He appreciated NIELIT Ladakh’s gesture of providing backpacks and pen drives, noting that such encouragement would motivate students to continue upskilling.
He remarked that the visionary leadership of Prof. Kushwaha, combined with the enthusiasm of students to prepare for the future, has become a hallmark of the University of Ladakh. He added that the collaboration with NIELIT Ladakh has strengthened opportunities for students to acquire industry-relevant skills without leaving the region.
Dr. Ali also thanked Dr. Mehboob Ali, In-charge Administration, Kargil Campus, for ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skillsets. He acknowledged the efforts of NIELIT Kargil in successfully conducting the course and the certification examination in a timely manner, and appreciated the faculty for their dedication in training the students.
The event was conducted by Anwar Hussain, Assistant Professor (CS & IT), who briefed the gathering about the programme. He informed that two such high-value certification programmes were conducted by the Department of Computer Science & IT in collaboration with NIELIT Kargil, with over 80 students participating.
Out of these, 52 students completed the 90-hour “Foundations of Information Security” course. He further shared that Director NIELIT Ladakh, P. Toldan, has expressed interest in offering more such upskilling courses in collaboration with the University of Ladakh, reaffirming NIELIT’s commitment to empowering the youth of the region.
Anwar Hussain also delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh; P. Toldan, Director, NIELIT Ladakh; Dr. Mehboob Ali, In-charge Administration, Kargil Campus; Mohd Hassan, In-charge, NIELIT Kargil; Mehboob Hussain, Administration, NIELIT Kargil; and the faculty members of NIELIT Kargil and the Department of CS & IT for their support in making the course a success. He also congratulated the students on their achievement.
