50 samples received reported negative, 50 more samples are awaited

A total of 50 reports were received from NCDC Delhi on March 31. All the reports are negative which includes 18 reports of Leh and 32 reports of Kargil district of Ladakh.

“Health conditions of the remaining 10 positive cases - 8 of Leh and 2 of Kargil districts are stable. Reports of 50 more samples are awaited", said Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner/Secretary Health.

To contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, an advisory has been issued by the District Magistrates of Leh and Kargil regarding the importance of registration of passengers who had returned to Ladakh with travel history to foreign countries between February 25 to March 24, they need to inform the office of the respective District Magistrates.

“A close coordination is being maintained with the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and during this month’s time, about 605 pilgrims were brought back from Iran and are placed under quarantine at facilities set at Ghaziabad, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur. And the remaining pilgrims are also expected to return in near future”, he added. 
 
He informed that UT Administration has started bringing vegetables via Air Force cargo and 6 tonnes of onions- 3 tonnes each for the twin districts were received today. Merchant Association of both the districts has been assigned the task of uniform allocation of sale outlets for the convenience of the general public.
 
Talking about construction work being carried out in some parts of villages of the district, Rigzin Samphel said that violation of nationwide lockdown and Sec 144 of CrPC imposed in Ladakh would invite strict action against violators.
