3-day road safety workshop held in Leh

Three-day road safety-related Capacity Building Programme organised by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Government of India culminated on September 25. 

Secretary, Transport Amit Sharma mentioned that the basic purpose of organising this Road Safety Workshop in the Union Territory of Ladakh was to enhance the capacities of officials working in Traffic and Transport departments towards the latest techno reforms taking place in road safety including Automated Vehicle Inspection and Automated Driving Test which is the need of the hour.

Top expert faculties from all over the nation were called to enhance the skills of UT trainee officers through their knowledgeable sessions which included Anil Chhilkara, DC Transport, New Delhi, Ashok Shinde, RTO Transport Department Maharashtra and Dheerendra Samineni, Road Safety Expert, Safe Drive India.

Secretary Transport Amit Sharma, who also holds the charge of Transport Commissioner in Ladakh, took detailed feedback from the visiting faculties as well as the officials of Transport and Traffic department about this MoRTH workshop.

The officials said that the workshop is a win-win refresher activity which has indeed helped them to get exposure to the latest rules and developments in the road safety domain.   

Amit assured the trainees that it shall become a regular feature in Ladakh Union Territory in which the next leg shall be organised in Kargil district soon so that Transport and

Traffic department officers there can get abreast with the latest developments in the Road Safety domain and he further disclosed that there shall also be virtual workshops organised with MoRTH support in UT with the objective of achieving maximum Road Safety, minimising accident rates and adherence to the latest traffic rules in the twin hilly districts of Ladakh.
