2564th Buddha Jayanti: People pray to seek end to COVID-19

Due to ongoing nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, the celebration of 2564th Buddha Jayanti on May 7 has been different than the traditional celebration. 

Ladakh Buddhist Association along with All Ladakh Gonpa Association greeted the people of Ladakh and seek blessing from the triple gems to get through the worst crisis nowadays humanity is facing.

Greeting everyone on this auspicious occasion, PT Kunzang, President, LBA urged people to stay resolved in the fight against coronavirus. He said that we all are going through a big challenge and in this tough phase we should cooperate with each other to get free from this virus soon. 

Ven. Shedup Chamba, President, LGA spoke about the importance of the day and urged everyone to pray for world peace, good health and happiness. He expressed gratitude to all the frontline workers for rendering their service to the welfare of people in these challenging days. 

He appealed people to stay home and do their prayers. The auspicious day is celebrated all over the world to commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana (death) of Lord Buddha. 

Konchok Stak, President, LBA Youth wing informed about the tradition of organising Blood Donation Camp every year on Buddha Jayanti day. He said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the organisation is registering the names of donors thorough social media and contact numbers shared on various social media platform.
