21 members participates in mountaineering expedition of North West Frontier, ITBP to Stok Kangri

The team of mountaineering expedition of North West Frontier of ITBP to Stok Kangri was flagged in by R.C Baijwan (IG OPS/INT/VET) DTE. Gen.  ITBP on December 7 at Kumbha hall, 24th Btn Choglamsar. The expedition team of 21 members was led by Commandant 5th BN ITBP Arjun Singh Negi.

The team was flagged off on November 25 by S.K. Choudhary DIG Ldk, 5th BN I.T.B.P Leh and reached back on December 3. The objective of the expedition was to further increase the corpus of national level mountaineer, to make the young members experience and learn about high altitude mountainous areas, to clean the Stok Kangri area, to study the mental and physical effects on men due to high altitude and inclement weather and to check the communication systems and other equipment in sub-zero (-30 to - 40 °C) temperatures.

R.C Baijwan (IG OPS/INT/VET) DTE. GEN. ITBP congratulated the team for the completion of the expedition successfully. Praising the participation of young members in the expedition he said, “With this, they are more experienced and skilled to negotiate the challenges in near future and will lift the glory of ITBP high.”

Commandant 5th BN ITBP Arjun Singh Negi briefed about the expedition journey of the team. A step towards safeguarding the nature and environment, the mountaineers also collected garbage and cleaned Stok Kangri area.
