19th Kushok Bakula centenary birth anniversary celebration planning in full swing Year-long activities and functions will be organised in Ladakh

For the grand celebration of the 19th Kushok Bakula centenary birth anniversary, a meeting was held on April 22 at Galdan Targyasling monastery, Spituk. Different responsibilities were executed to all the department, associations, monasteries and society for the year-long event starting from May 19. 

Geshes Konchok Wangdus, CIBS Director highlighted the importance of the celebration at a mass level and to remember the works and efforts of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, thus, motivating people to walk on his path. 

As a mark of respect and honor, the meeting decided to celebrate Kushok Bakula Rinpoche birth anniversary with pomp by illuminating all the monastery and houses and to make free entry to all the tourist and visitor in the entire monastery.  

The day will be organized by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh. Different religious organization of Leh will aware the people about the celebration and the procession that will be carried out on the day. 

The tableau and the ritual performance will be carried out by the monks of Spituk monastery. Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam will organize the traditional archery program whereas the women wings and alliance will organize the traditional reception. Decoration, publicity, and seminar will be taken care by youth wings of the different religious organization. 

Photo Exhibition, culture program, theater on Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, film festival, cleanliness campaign and many other activities will be carried out at all levels in the whole year.

Expressing the importance of the 100th birth anniversary celebration, CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa said, “In a previous meeting it was recommended to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a Chief Guest for the day, for which the invitation letter has been sent through MP Thupstan Chhewang. Hopefully, he will join us on the day.” 

He further added that different activities and programs of the year will be in commemoration of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche.

He assured every possible help and support to make the day great successful and to promote the work and effort of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche to each and everyone.
Tsewang Thinles, LBA President stressed on setting a date for different programs and activities that will be held in a year properly so that it won’t clash with other schedules. 

Ashraf Ali Barcha, Anjuman Imamia President said, “ We are left with very less time and to  make it successful we should start working for the day.”

Talking about the Kushok Bakula Rinpoche secular image and working style by taking everyone along, Ashraf said, “More discussion and ideation is needed to promote the message of secularism and equality of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche in every corner of the world.”

Councillor Upper Leh Lobzang Nyantak recommended naming ‘Sku Kongma Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche’ to make it more precise and important.

Deachen Chamga, President Christian community informed that an education scholarship program named as ‘Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche Centenary scholarship” will be provided to a poor needy student. The scholarship will bear the tuition fees of the school. 

Different other personalities also contributed their valuable suggestion to emphasize the importance of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche contribution to the Ladakh as a whole. The celebration was decided to be marked not only in Ladakh but in national and international level.
