Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery celebrates Gustor Festival

Gustor festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion on 11th October by the Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery in Choglamsar.  The day started with the grand religious ceremony and attended by the monks and nuns of the monastery and hundreds of devotees. 

Gustor of Karma Dupgyud Choeling begins from the 22nd day of the eighth month of the Tibetan calendar. For fourteen days/nights, the prayers and rituals go continuously, propitiating the Mahakala, the main dharma protector.

Various mask dance (Chhams) were performed by the monks of the monastery. (Chhams is a traditional religious dance performs by the monks’ accordance with specific content. The dancer wears mask of various animals and Dharmapala figures of Buddhism.)
At the end of the dance, the large effigy of Mahakala is set on fire to mark the conclusion of the annual festive.
