Diskit monastery to host 5th Degon Yarchos Chenmo Around 60,000 guests are expected to attend the Yarchos Chenmo

The 5th Degon Yarchos Chenmo (Buddhist Summer Council) is going to be held from July 1 to 10 in Diskit, Nubra. K
For final preparations, Thiksey Khenpo Rinpoche visited Diskit, Nubra on  June 23. 

Thiksey Khenpo Rinpoche said that the Yarchos Chenmo was organised every year on the advice of His Holiness to stimulate philosophical and logical talk and debate among all the sects of Buddhism.  An open discussion is made with an aim to uphold unity and peace within all sects of the Buddhist community. The council is open to Geshes, Lamas, students, and layman.

He informed that a minimum of 60,000 guests are expected to attend the closing ceremony of the Yarchos Chenmo.

Venerable KelKhang Rinpoche said that Diskit monastery is ready to welcome the 2017 Degon Yarchos Chenmo participants and His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The monks of Diskit, along with skilled artisans, labourers, and devotees of Nubra Valley, men and women, young and old, came together to work in order to ensure proper reception and comfortable stay to everyone during the Yarchos Chenmo and the teachings of His Holiness.
