Teachers' Day celebrated at Phay School

Paying respect and showing gratitude to teachers, Government Middle School Phay in collaboration with Govt Middle School Spituk organised several programmes to celebrate Teacher's Day at Phay School on 5th September.  Dr Norboo, Physician was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 

Teachers' Day is being celebrated across the nation on 5 September to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President and eminent scholar Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan.

Dr Radhakhrishnan believed that 'teachers should be the best minds in the country'. Since 1962, his birthday is celebrated in India as Teachers' Day on 5 September.

A variety of cultural program were performed by students and the teachers from both school on the occasion.

Headmisses, Rinchen Dolma, Phay Government School welcoming all the guest gave a brief introduction about why we celebrate Teachers' day. She recalled that the birthday of former President S Radhakrishnan, a teacher himself, is being celebrated as Teachers' Day.

The program started by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest Dr Norboo.

Dr Norboo Physician extended his Teacher's Day greetings, expressing his desire that they should create a knowledge based society for the benefit of the region.

"Teaching job involves inculcating discipline, instilling self-confidence, determination and general knowledge in students. It is one of the noblest professions if you do with dedication. I wish that the teachers who do this special job create a knowledge-based society that will bring laurels to the region," he said in his Teachers' Day greetings.

The cultural program by the students and teachers was entertaining. Our Ladakhi students have a very good rhythm sense. Dancing and singing are inherent to them. Sports is also important to keep our mind healthy, he said.
 
Phay School is one of the best middle schools in Ladakh in terms of academics. Giving an example he said, “Handsome is that who handsome does”. Village participation is equally important for more progress in Education sector.

Dr Norboo further said, “We should remember Smt. Samstan Dolma and Late Lobzang Thapkas for their immense contribution for the school.”

Headmisses, Rinchen Dolma requested Dr Norboo to visit frequently to Phay School as Spituk and give suggestions to them which will help them to achieve more success in academics.

Dr Nawang Tsering, Chairman of School Management Committee, Phay also extended his greetings and said, “It is the day when students honour the teachers for their immense contribution to the region and the community.” The relation between the student and teacher should be exemplary like in the olden days as Guru and shishya.  Students should respect their teachers and obey them. The position of the teacher is very high and it cannot be bought by money and it is believed that student who respects their teacher gets good knowledge. Teacher should be active, if teachers are active than school will definitely progress, he added.

The city joined in the nationwide Teachers’ Day celebrations on 5th September, with schools and other institutions celebrating the day with various programmes.
