Jigmet Norbu publishes Urdu / Persian poetry book

Just in time for National Poetry month, renowned local poet Jigmet Norbu (Khayal Ladakhi) releases his new poetry book entitled “Ibteda – e – Khayal”, a collection of poetry. It is the first Urdu / Persian poetry book published by a Ladakhi writer.

 

It was launched at Shenam community hall on 14 March. Ghulam Abbass Abidi , Executive Councillor CAPD and Higher education LAHDC Leh was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Tsewang Paljor , Cultural Officer, Abdul Ghani Shiekh, eminent writer & author, Zain – Ul – Abidin, eminent writer & Poet were the guest of honour on the occasion.

The chief guest and eminent speakers applaud hard work of the author Jigmet Norbu stressed on the importance of literary activities and its contribution in social building and Art & Culture in particular. They stressed that Language and Art are not bound by narrow scope of Religion, Caste, and Creed.

Jigmet Norbu, the author said, “I have been working on this since 18 years basically it focuses on love, hatred and wine (people and things related to wine).  My Dad passed away in 2008 since then I was more inclined towards it.”

Now I feel relaxed otherwise I used to sleep at 2.00 in the midnight from a very long time, he added. It will be available in the Leh Market after 20th of April.

Jigmet Norbu, entertained the audience with the excerpts from the book with its wit, charm and beauty.
